Community Groups are made up of 8-10 individuals or 4-5 married couples who meet in someone's home, in a coffee shop, or another location to help one another grow in their faith. By connecting in community, growing in the 5G's, and serving others, community groups are going to help you become more like Christ. Eagle Brook offers community groups for married couples, singles, men, and women.
If you are interested in joining a community group, please register for the next Grouplink. Grouplink is a casual, fun event where people meet and connect with others in order to start a community group. We will help you find a group the night of Grouplink that is a good fit for you based on your stage of life and where you live. You are then given the chance to test drive this group for the next 6 weeks. You will spend this time getting to know each other and doing a short study together. At the end of the 6 weeks, you can choose to continue with your group, which most do, or we will help you find a group that is a better fit at the next Grouplink. Why should I join a Community Group?
We want to help make a big church small. It is our goal to see everyone at Eagle Brook experience authentic community by getting connected to a group and then to be transformed by God and others. We think this life change happens best when you do the following 3 things:
CONNECT in community
GROW in the 5G's
SERVE others
This is what Groups at Eagle Brook Church are all about.
What is a Community Group?
A Community Group is made up of 4-5 married couples or 8-10 individuals that meet on a regularly to connect in community, grow in the 5Gs, and serve others. They are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity.
How do I join a Community Group?
Simply sign up for Grouplink on our website, or on the weekend. There are registration cards at all campuses that you can fill out and turn in at the Information Central. You will receive an email confirmation once we have you registered in our system.
Then come to Grouplink and we'll help you find a group!
What is the difference between Grouplink at the White Bear campus vs the Spring Lake Park campus?
If you attend our White Bear Lake campus or Lino Lakes campus, we ask that you attend one of the Grouplink nights offered at the White Bear campus. You can choose to attend the Married night, Singles night, or Women's night.
If you attend our Spring Lake Park campus, we ask that you attend the Grouplink at that campus. We currently offer one 'general' night of Grouplink at Spring Lake Park where we will launch Married, Singles, & Women's groups all from that one night.
How long does Grouplink last?
Grouplink lasts approximately two hours. We form groups in the beginning of the evening, so make sure you are there on time.
What happens at Grouplink?
You will arrive at Grouplink, check-in according to your age, and then will be directed to a section of tables to sit at according to where you live in relation to the Eagle Brook campuses. You will have the chance to mingle and meet with other people you could potentially be in a group with. Appetizers, dessert, and beverages will be provided.
We will form groups near the beginning of the night based primarily on life stage and location. Once you have formed a group, you will sit with them and spend some time getting to know one another.
How are groups formed at Grouplink?
We let you decide who you want to be in a group with - we don't assign you in groups prior to coming. Once you're at Grouplink, you'll have the opportunity to mingle with people in your similar location/life-stage. The goal from this time is for you to connect with some people you would potentially like to be in a group with. People wearing blue Grouplink t-shirts are Group Leaders and we recommend going to talk with them to see if you'd be a good fit in their group. After mingling time, we will help you form groups.
Is childcare provided at Grouplink?
Childcare is not provided at Grouplink.
What is the difference between Grouplink and a Community Group?
Grouplink is a two-hour event that you attend to join a Community Group. Community Groups are made up of 8-10 individuals or 4-5 married couples who meet in someone's home, in a coffee shop, or another location to help one another grow in their faith.
What if I attend Grouplink but have a hard time finding a group to join?
Be flexible! Determine what is most important to you- finding a group that meets on a certain day, a certain location, or the same age range. Chances are you won't find a group that meets every specification you want. Pick one and focus on finding that type of group. You will have much better chances at connecting with a group then. If you don't find a group though that works, please fill out a red Future Connections card and turn it into someone wearing gray. We will do everything possible to find a group for you outside of Grouplink. If we aren't able to, please plan on trying again at the next one!
What if I don't feel like I connect well with the group I joined?
We highly recommend giving your group a chance. It is typical for a group to take awhile before people start bonding. Someone you thought you would never be friends with may end up being one of your closest friends! Give your group a chance and see how God can work through it. If after awhile you still don’t feel like it's a good fit, sign up for the next Grouplink and try again!
What if I can't make it to Grouplink?
If you can't make it to the upcoming Grouplink, please plan on attending the next Grouplink.
If I can't come to Grouplink and I don't want to wait until the next one, can you still get me into a Community Group?
It is very difficult to place people into groups outside of Grouplink, so there is no guarantee we will be able to place you. It is important that you attend Grouplink the night it is offered if you want to join a group. Grouplink is offered quarterly.
What is a Group Connector?
A Group Connector is a volunteer that will help you find a Community Group to join. They will be at Grouplink ready to assist you and answer any questions you may have.
What kind of Community Groups are there?
Married - Community Groups comprised of married couples in the same stage of life.
Singles - Community Groups comprised of single adults in the same stage of life. These groups may be single gender or co-ed.
Women - Community Groups open to all women of any age or stage of life (single, married, divorced, and widowed).
Are there groups that have married couples and singles together?
No, at this point, we do not have mixed groups of married couples and singles.
What if I am a single female - do I go to the Singles or Women's Grouplink?
Singles Community Groups are made up of single women or a mix of single men/women. Women's Community Groups are made up of single, married, divorced, & widowed women. The choice is up to you!
Is childcare provided for each group meeting?
Every group decides for itself how to address childcare – some groups will bring their children to group or as a group organize childcare, but in most cases individual families arrange outside childcare options for themselves.
When and where do groups meet?
Community Groups meet any day of the week, typically Monday-Thursday evenings and Sundays. Group members will often take turns hosting at their home, while some groups choose to meet at the same home every week. Community Groups do not meet at an Eagle Brook campus.
How often do Community Groups meet?
Groups usually meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This will be up to your group to decide as a whole. Some groups may meet for 3 weeks, then do a social activity the 4th week of the month. A lot of Community Groups take a break during the summer due to busy and conflicting schedules.
How long does a Community Group last?
Community Groups formed at Grouplink are asked to initially commit to six weeks together. After those six weeks, the group members decide if they want to continue meeting together for an additional 12-24 months. The total duration of a typical group is between one and two years.
How long does each group meeting last?
Most Community Groups meet for 1.5 to 2 hours. Each group will decide on the best length of time for them.
What goes on at a Group meeting?
A typical group meeting will consist of social time, study time, and prayer. It is up to a group to decide how much time will be devoted to each.
What do they study?
We offer two different curriculums at Grouplink for groups to choose from.
The first is Life Rules, by Andy Stanley. This is a 6 week DVD curriculum and is a great way to get started.
The second is called ReGroup, by Henry Cloud & Bill Donahue. This is a great curriculum for people who have never been in a small group before as it walks you through how to become a group. It is a 4 week DVD curriculum. (If your group chooses this curriculum, we recommend also supplementing the curriculum by going over the weekend discussion questions provided online and at our campuses).
After completion of your first study, it is up to the group to decide what to study next. We offer a variety of curriculum suggestions on our website.
