SUMMER MISSIONS

Option 1: Youthworks Pine Ridge - This trip is geared towards those who are looking for a first or second time mission opportunity.
When: June 22 - June 28
Where: Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota. Pine Ridge is the home to the Oglala Sioux Nation. It is one of the poorest communities in the country, with 97 percent living below the federal government poverty level.
What we will be doing: Everyone will have the opportunity to help with a kids club for part of the week, as well as help with some home repair work projects around the community.
Why are we going: To partner with God is serving real people with real needs, showing them his love in practical ways.
Cost and deadlines: $400. Application and $50 deposit DUE by April 16. *There are still openings for this trip. Sign up by May 27!

Option 2: Reynosa, Mexico - This trip is designed as a second step missions experience for those students who have already been on a mission trip in the past, and who have shown a commitment to the youth group through involvement in other Student Ministries activities.
When: July 18 - July 27
Where: Reynosa, Mexico. Reynosa Mexico is a border town close to McAllen, Texas.
What we will be doing: We will be working with Reynosa Engrei Alliance Church, partnering in their ministry to the community around them. We will be ministering to the community by bringing food to the poor, visiting the sick, playing with children and telling them about Jesus Christ.
Why are we going: To experience a trip of global perspective that will challenge the heart, stretch the comfort zone, and draw students to God. We want to give students an opportunity to serve using their gifts, talents, and abilities to glorify God, and bring people the life changing message of Jesus.
Cost and Deadlines: $700. Application and $50 deposit due by April 16. *Registration is now closed.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I go on both trips?
A: No, due to limited space, you can go on one trip or the other. You may apply for both trips and we will put you on the one we feel is best fit for you.

Q: What if I don't have enough money to pay for the trip? We will be doing any fund raisers as a group?
A: We will not be doing any organized fund raisers. However we encourage everyone to raise some of the money for these trips. One way to raise money is through support letters. We have sample support letters to help you with this process. Another way to raise money would be to get some friends together and have your own fund raiser (such as bagging groceries at Cub).

Q: If I am an incoming 9th grader, can I go on these trips?
A: If you are going to be starting 9th grade next fall, you can apply for the Pine Ridge trip, but the Reynosa trip is only open to current high school students.
